7th Grade English

Our seventh grade students continue to develop their IB profile as they focus on reading and writing strategies to stimulate their critical thinking and interests. In this grade level we focus on the themes of diversity and tolerance and integrate concepts and content from social studies. Currently, most students are reading or have finished reading Seven Daughters and Seven Sons, a novel exploring the impact of the Islamic culture on a family.

We look forward to our practical field trip to Jalcomulco, Veracruz in early March. Our English students will use the natural environment as inspiration for their creative myths writing projects.

In the final quarter we look forward to participating in the Model United Nations (MUN) where students will debate current global issues. In preparation for this, Ms. Tagle’s class has been researching the pros and cons of issues and creating a variety of presentations from documentaries to political cartoons that illustrate opposing viewpoints.
